40 members of the well known Gracie family had dedicated themselves to developing a very effective system of self defense. Gracie Jiu-Jitsu. Practiced by athletes in all manner of sports including EBWF World Champion CM Punk. Punk often trained with Rener Gracie, a 4th degree black belt and the head instructor for the academy in California. Punk could be found sitting on a bench in the facility. Nothing overly fancy. Just white walls and a lot of training mats. The Second City Saint leaned backwards, shirtless, while smoothing his palms quickly along the black shorts he was dressed in.
CM Punk: "Look at this. Another promo from Punk and he's focusing on something other than wrestling."
A small sighed came from his chest.
CM Punk: "Yeah, yeah, I'm sure most of you caught that little lead in. I know a lot of you are thinking 'Man, I can't wait for Punk to tear into The Rock for doing movies!' "
The champion shook his head.
CM Punk: "Well, that's not going to happen. Because I honestly don't care. I don't. The Rock can go out and do as many movies or tv shows as he wants to. It doesn't effect me. If your asking me for my opinion, I tend to think his best role was Walking Tall. Pretty simple. It was just The Rock walking around and hitting people with a stick. Or, hey, maybe it was Be Cool. His part in that movie probably wasn't that big of a stretch for him if you understand what I'm getting at."
The Rock's character in the 2003 film was a very flamboyant, homosexual singer. Punk lightly shrugged his shoulders.
CM Punk: "Yes. That was a gay joke. This is pro wrestling. They happen. Everyone is allowed at least one every five years. C'mon, that was so easy. What did you expect? Anyway, as I was saying, the fact The Rock has been a bigger part of Hollywood than he has wrestling doesn't bother me in the least. The Rock's family was a big part of wrestling history and The Rock himself is always going to be remembered. He's going to be remembered along Stone Cold and Hulk Hogan, whether you or I like him or not."
A few quick claps were given before he continued on.
CM Punk: "Me? I don't care about movies. Or television. The only television you're going to see me on is Warfare. Have I been offered roles? Sure. About the only thing I would ever consider doing is maybe a role as a zombie on Walking Dead. That's about it. Or something like Macho Man's part in Spider Man. But other than that? Nah. I'm here because I want to fight. I'm here because I've got a title to defend. I'm here because I'm the Best in the World."
The World Title that had been resting in his gym bag was now laying across his shoulder for all the world to see.
CM Punk: "This title proves it. This title that I've defended for these pass few months against all comers. This title that I have to defend every week until I get my main event spot at 'Mania. So why am I here in California at the moment? Whoa, pretty close to Hollywood, isn't it? I'm here at the Gracie Jiu-Jitsu training academy to keep my skills as absolutely sharp as they can be. While everyone else is tweeting or blogging I'm constantly improving my game. Hey, ya know who else does Jiu-Jitsu? Al Bundy. Ed O'Neil. So, I guess that's how deep I get into rubbing elbows. That's for me. I did a little Jiu-Jitsu with Al Bundy and The Rock is probably hanging out with..shit, I don't know..Nicki Minaj?"
Saying that name made him look as though his soul was ready to dive out of his body and run into traffic.
CM Punk: "Point is, I'm learning new techniques while The Rock, or Dwayne or The Scorpion King or whatever you want to call him is out doing..well, I couldn't care less what he's doing exactly. Coming up with insults that usually involve food. Or "trending." He's got a movie that just came out so he's probably trying to push that. This isn't me being snide or being a smart ass. This is me being honest. I know I have to push myself and keep myself untouchable to my opponents while The Rock is doing publicity for demanding fifteen bowls of tropical Fruit Skittles for his dressing room.'
Perhaps the rumors of The Rock's locker room demands weren't very far off?
CM Punk: "Whatever. His life. But my life is keeping this title around my waist. MY LIFE is EBWF. So, that's where my problem with The Rock comes in. There is absolutely no chance in hell that I'm letting him leave Fallout with that title. That would be a disgrace. I'm not sure if I could look myself in the mirror if I dropped my title, after all of this hard work, to someone who's passion died a long time ago."
His fingers were now gripping the plate of his title in a very protective manner.
CM Punk: "It's like this. Rock? Thanks for what you did. Your always going to be a part of wrestling history. You helped mold and shape something that I love. But your time is done. I'm ending it for you. You're going to see the very real difference between a wrestler and an actor. I am going to knock you out. And when you wake up, maybe if you wish hard enough, you will be back on the set of whatever crappy, god awful movie, directed by Satan, that you're going to be in next. Far, far away from someone like me. Stay in your world. I'll stay in mine. And I'm going to make very sure, leaving no room for error, that when I'm finished with you..you never think about stepping into MY ring again."
With those last words, the scene ended.
