The typically silent member of The Family was present in the backstage area of the Superdome, seated upon a few crates. He lightly rocked back and forth while his hair, some strands dyed a green or purple hue, swayed with his motions. Raven pressed a taped fist into his palm and rubbed his knuckles into the surface of his skin. The torn and frayed leather jacket he wore complimented the ragged condition of his jean shorts and the black 'The Family- You Are Now One Of Us' shirt he wore.
Todd Grisham: "Raven, this is the first time our audience has seen you since being attacked by Randy Orton. Can you update us on your condition?"
One of Raven's eyeballs, which had black grease paint smeared around it, gave a glance to the announcer.
Raven: "As you can see, there hasn't been a method of properly disposing me that anyone can possibly devise. In fact, I'm a little disappointed. Randy Orton fancies himself a sociopath and yet all he can come up with is to kick me in the head? Where is the imagination? I've crucified people. I've sat them on fire. So you'll have to forgive me if a little 'punt' doesn't exactly do it for me. In the very least, he could have attempted to drown me."
Todd Grisham: "We were informed that you had been drifting in and out of conciseness for a week or so. Can you elaborate on that?"
Raven: "It's somewhat like being buried alive. You're semi-aware of your situation but there isn't much you can do about it. But I didn't mind the nap. I often find it difficult to sleep, what with all the screams and bellowing and horrible moaning I usually have to contend with."
Todd Grisham: "You..almost sound as if you enjoyed it."
Raven: "Todd, if you were to have your leg torn off, your body would compensate for the pain by numbing the nerve ends through shock. Taking beheading for example. Decapitation. I've heard it's very euphoric. Contemporary records of guillotining indicate that the facial expressions, including eye movements, of separated heads continue to change for a short period. A continuance of sentient movement."
Todd Grisham: "U-Uh, that's very--"
Raven: "The perception of pain is immediately removed by the massive damage to the spine. The eyes continue to send messages directly to the brain for up to twenty minutes afterwords. There is a possibility that you could stare up at your bloodied neck until oblivion slowly descends. That..is euphoria.."
Raven slowly drags his tongue along one of his fingers as he seemingly relishes such a perverse thought. Todd on the other hand, realizes that this man is a complete nutcase. He inches backwards a pace or two.
Todd Grisham: "Keeping that in mind, you're apart of the roster wide King of the Ring tournament. Or rather, the qualifying matches. But you will have to contend with The Miz if you wish to advance."
Raven: "The Miz is clearly missing something from his life. He's searching for something. And he probably thinks winning the King of the Ring tournament will help him find it. But, unfortunately for him, it's not in his future. I'm not very impressed with The Miz. Not in his ability to inflict damage and certainly not in his abilities to receive it. That euphoric experience I was talking about earlier? I want The Miz to feel it. I want to aid him in his search and I believe I can do that by hurting him. I think The Miz will find that it's not only cathartic but erotically stimulating as well..."
Todd Grisham: "I...I believe that answers all of my questions."
Raven: "..King Raven has a pretty nice ring to it, doesn't it? So it is written, so it shall come to pass. Quote the Raven...nevermore..."
The camera remains fixated on Raven as he grins, filled with wicked intentions, before fading to black.
